THE COUPLE met in Atlanta, Georgia in 2004, in somewhat of a hopeless place called Swinging Richards. At the time, Joshua had just started dancing there, and Emerich was a patron—and, as luck would have it, Joshua’s 2nd table dance patron. Joshua was in a relationship when they met and had just relocated from Michigan with his boyfriend at the time.
Shortly after meeting, Emerich started dating someone, and it blossomed into something serious, and Joshua stopped dancing and moved behind the bar, where both Emerich and his partner became regular customers.
Skip forward to 2016. Emerich had split with his ex 4 years prior while Joshua had left his bartending gig at Richards and moved to a job in marketing; he and Emerich had actually lost touch for about 3 years. Joshua walked away from his 14-year relationship to find peace, happiness, and ultimately himself. It was yet again in a bar that Emerich and Joshua reconnected, but this time both as patrons.
After a short courtship (they’d been friends for years, after all)—despite initial protestations from Joshua, who’d recently re-entered single-hood, Emerich and Joshua decided to make their relationship official on New Year’s Eve 2016/17 while on a friends ski trip in Asheville, NC.
A short 8 months later, after a great deal of time spent together and travels all across the globe, Joshua already knew that he’d found a soulmate in Emerich. He proposed to Emerich in front of most their friends on August 5, 2017 in Piedmont Park—Emerich obviously said yes. 😊
They enjoyed a longer engagement than originally anticipated, but on Leap Day 2020, right before the pandemic hit and the world went into lockdown, they took the leap into marriage on a lighthouse-dotted cliffside in Punta Borinquen, Aguadilla, Puerto Rico.
In June of 2022, they took another leap and left the city they had spent almost 2 decades in and relocated to sunny Tampa, Florida.
EMERICH is a unique and rare blend of a Czech father and Puerto Rican mother. Although born and raised on the remote island of Puerto Rico, La Isla del Encanto, he’s traveled and seen a lot of the world.
He moved to the Orlando, Florida in 2000, after college, and went into television broadcasting, which ultimately landed him the job at Turner Broadcasting that brought him to Atlanta, where he met Joshua two years later. He has since left Turner and television, though he’s very much still a lover of—and still maintains a strong passion for—television and film.
He’s only recently embraced his muscle-bear and “daddy” statuses, with many calling him, Papi.
He works from home as a life and spiritual coach or on a number of entrepreneurial endeavors, including (but not limited to) The House of Fuego, their joint event production company; Allover Tour, an all-gay travel and vacation agency; or Nifty Thrifty Traveler, his eCommerce travel and leisure store.
JOSHUA was born and raised in rural Maine, of mixed British Isles descent on his mother’s side, and French Canadian, Portuguese, and Spanish descent on his father’s side.
Although he is proud of his upbringing and his home state, he fled its borders the first chance possible, opting to move halfway across the country, not knowing a soul, to go to school in rural Michigan. The freedom of no one knowing him already as he met new friends allowed him to bloom freely into the man he is today.
He went to school for Creative Writing, and is a published author, editor, and publisher—owning his own publishing company, The Bearded Scribe Press since 2011, an endeavor that is on a current hiatus until he finds a bit more time.
Like Emerich, he works from home as a graphic and web designer (FORGE) as well as a Talent Manager for Electronic Music deejays (Spark Talent Management) or on a number of entrepreneurial endeavors, including (but not limited to) The House of Fuego, their joint event production company; Allover Tour, an all-gay travel and vacation agency; or in the works of developing a polyamory-focused (yet inclusive) dating app.
WHEN they first started dating, Emerich had the sweetest schnauzer mix who, just like his daddy, completely stole Joshua’s heart and truly became just as much his fur-baby as it was Emerich’s. Unfortunately, Marvin passed in 2018, leaving a huge hole in their lives and hearts. They gave themselves a bit of time to heal, but when they moved into their own place (just the two of them), they discussed getting another dog now that they didn’t have roommates.
Emerich’s friend in Puerto Rico was a member of a schnauzer adoption group, and they found the perfect candidate for adoption. They were headed over there for a festival, so thought it would be the perfect time to adopt.
A week or so before the trip, the leader of the adoption group wrote to apologize profusely and to let them know that the woman decided not to put her dog up for adoption. Feeling so badly, she went against her ‘adopt first’ mentality and told them that a friend of hers had a dog that’d given birth a few weeks before.
She put them in contact with her friend, who sent them photos of the puppies she still had available. Without any disagreement at all, they both chose the same female, who happened to be the runt—with an oversized personality to compensate for her petiteness.
Paying homage to Joshua’s French heritage, they decided to name their new bundle Madeleine, with a secondary name Sophia, suitable for any smart princess.
SIX MONTHS after bringing Madeleine home, while taking her for a walk, Joshua bumped into Ace, another all-white mini schnauzer (much like Madeleine had confusedly become) and his mom, Alicia.
Alicia suggested pairing the two, once Ace was old enough, and from that day forward, Madeleine was betrothed to a gringo, much like her Papi. At the very beginning of 2021, it finally happened—Alicia dropped Ace off with them for the evening, and the two wasted no time consummating their betrothal.
On March 11th, about 3-4 days earlier than expected, Madeleine gave birth to 4 beautiful babies… 1) Rue—a black & silver female, that was unfortunately stillborn; 2) Lucas Xavier—a black & silver male who was the fattest of the litter (unlike his mama) and stole hearts immediately; 3) Bella—a salt and pepper female who went to Alicia’s sister; and 4) Alfred—a salt and pepper male who went to their good friend—and former roommate—Alex.
From Day 1, Joshua and Lucas had an uncanny bond, and can now be found spooning (Lucas’ favorite) in bed or on the couch. He’s a lover, and definitely a daddy’s boy, especially at bedtime.
He still has puppy energy—he’s very excited and happy almost all the time. Unfortunately, he likes to jump on you, but we’re trying to break him of it, so please don’t pet him if he jumps up on you.
Our home is ONLY accessible with a digital key, which we will send to you prior to your stay with us, but you’ll first have to download the Kēvo App.
Once you download the app, please register for an account, making note of the email address used to register, then share that email address with us so we can ensure we have the correct person when we send you the digital key. As double insurance that you received it, we’ll send you a text to confirm you received it as soon as we send.
The app is very simple to use, but we’ll go through how to use the app if you’re having trouble with it once you are here (at check-in).
SPECIAL NOTE: Please make sure you leave the door LOCKED at all times—even when you are inside the house.
Our home is a completely smart home—well, almost—meaning most of the lights and some other devices are voice-controlled and we do not use most of the wall switches. In your room, you will note the wall switches are labeled and most are actually blocked off with switch covers preventing your ability to toggle them—specifically the outdoor lights that we want left on and the light portion of the ceiling fan overhead (there is a separate, accessible switch to turn the fan blades on and off).
Below are the easy voice commands to control your room and the rest of the public areas of the house; feel free to learn them before your check-in, but we’ll also go over the commands again once you arrive.
This command will CHANGE the overhead FAN LIGHTS to the percent you choose.
You can select any value between 10 & 100, just note that you have to say ‘percent’ as part of the command—for example: “ALEXA, GUEST FAN TO 50 PERCENT” will dim the FAN LIGHTS to half their brightness.
This command will CHANGE the overhead FAN LIGHTS to the color you choose.
Available color choices are: WARM WHITE [default], SOFT WHITE, WHITE, DAYLIGHT WHITE, COOL WHITE, RED, CRIMSON, SALMON, ORANGE, GOLD, YELLOW, GREEN, TURQUOISE, CYAN, SKY BLUE, BLUE, PURPLE, MAGENTA, PINK, & LAVENDER
The floodlight outside the pool area is motion-sensored, so it will automatically turn on when you walk out of the room. Once you’re inside the pool area, however, it will not turn back on once off due to the sensor facing toward the back gate and back door. The floodlight inside the pool area will stay on for as long as you’re in the pool area—unfortunately, for safety reasons (the lights below the water in the pool died), these cannot be turned off.
In addition to the floodlight outside the pool area and the one in the corner inside the pool area, the pool area has two halogen lights, rope lights, and some cafe lights over the pool.
This command will CHANGE the overhead FAN LIGHTS and the SOFA LAMPS to the percent you choose.
You can select any value between 10 & 100, just note that you have to say ‘percent’ as part of the command—for example: “ALEXA, LIVING ROOM TO 50 PERCENT” will dim the LIVING ROOM LIGHTS to half their brightness.
This command will CHANGE the overhead FAN LIGHTS and the SOFA LAMPS to the color you choose.
Available color choices are: WARM WHITE [default], SOFT WHITE, WHITE, DAYLIGHT WHITE, COOL WHITE, RED, CRIMSON, SALMON, ORANGE, GOLD, YELLOW, GREEN, TURQUOISE, CYAN, SKY BLUE, BLUE, PURPLE, MAGENTA, PINK, & LAVENDER

Our kitchen is one of the only rooms where complete control via Smart Technology is a little wonky—the lights can be controlled to turn on or to dim to a percentage, but when the electrician wired the house and put a dimmer switch on one of the sides of the kitchen, it was installed incorrectly and our kitchen literally won’t let us turn OFF all the lights via Smart Technology. Not to worry, though, we prefer to not have them all turned off anyway and have specific commands to control the lights to appease it.
This command will CHANGE the overhead KITCHEN LIGHTS to the percent you choose.

The TV in your room comes with an AppleTV, DirecTV StreamBox, as well as being a SmartTV. The services are already signed in, so please leave them signed into their respective accounts.
The remotes are located in the top drawer of the black nightstand (labeled “Remotes”)—the AppleTV remote is the slim, small remote; the DirecTV remote is the medium gray remote, and the TV remote is the large black one. If you have any issues figuring out how to use any of them, feel free to ask.
Both of us work from home and are usually in the living room watching tv while we enjoy our first cup of coffee before heading to the office (where we usually continue watching the office tv while working).
If we’re watching tv in the living room, you’re always more than welcome to join us—in the evenings we’re usually chilling in front of it watching a movie or series. Feel free to use it otherwise.
The remotes are generally located on the end table closest to the shuttered doors (where the laundry is), but it can be a challenge locating on any given day. If we have guests staying with us, however, we try to make it a habit of placing them on the coffee table in plain view. The small, black remote is for the TV, and the gray remote (identical to the one in your room) is for the DirecTV StreamBox.
We generally only watch the TV in the dining room if we’re entertaining dinner guests or hosting a game night, so you are always welcome to watch it while eating or hanging out there
The remotes are located on the buffet table in the silver dish that’s on top. The black remote is for the TV, the gray remote (identical to the one in your room) is for the DirecTV StreamBox, and the small, black remote is for the soundbar.
As we mentioned above, our dining room is the perfect spot to chill and play some games—we have tons of them to choose from, all located in our living room (due to more storage). If you need help finding them, please don’t hesitate to ask! While playing, we ask that you treat the games as if they were your own, and to please put them back the way you found them once done.

Please store any and all of your food in the fridge and freezer in the room. There should be plenty of room in both for a decent amount of necessities.
Please refrain from using the refrigerator/freezer in the kitchen for your food storage.
While we ask that you do not use our refrigerator or freezer for your food storage, you are welcome to the filtered water on the door, or the ice in the freezer.
Because the ice maker on the fridge door has quit functioning, we broke down and purchased a countertop-style ice maker.
We’d prefer to not have you use the ice maker, as it can be a bit touchy. If the ice in the freezer is low, please let one of us know and we’ll make up some more—its generally pretty quick at making more.
Admittedly, the stove takes some getting used to—we’ll lead you through how to use it once you check in, but if you have any questions on how to use it, we’re here to help.
If you make a mess on the glass stovetop, please wait until stovetop cools before attempting to clean; please only use glass cleaner and paper or cloth towels to clean stovetop—anything else will damage the surface.
The microwave is perhaps one of the simplest of appliances in our kitchen, but if you do have any questions on how to use it, please don’t hesitate to ask us.
There’s a plastic food cover in the microwave to place over your food to prevent splatter while heating. If you do have a spill or splatter, however, please wipe the mess with a wet cloth.
Please make sure there is nothing on top of the toaster oven before use. If you are unfamiliar with toaster ovens or need help operating it, we are more than happy to show you—just ask!
There is no ON or OFF switch on the panini press—we always leave it on medium heat setting and plug in to use and unplug once we’re finished using it. If left plugged in, this appliance is liable to catch fire, so please be mindful when using.
There is a CLEAN/DIRTY magnet on the front of the dishwasher to let you know if the dishes inside have been turned on for the clean cycle or if more can be added.
If more can be added, please make sure that when you place dishes in there, you are placing them in a way that still allows free movement of the cleaning arms, otherwise the load will not get clean.
We generally run the dishwasher once a night, overnight, as the cycle takes over 3 hours to wash, rinse, and dry, so you won’t have to worry about starting it.
Though we’re animal lovers, pets ARE NOT ALLOWED during your stay. We do have two pets of our own who can be temperamental with other dogs, so we don’t risk the possibility of any bad interaction. They’re very sweet-natured and extremely friendly with other humans.
Our pet area’s located outside your room’s pool access door. They do have an additional area by the carport to use while the room is occupied, but we’d prefer they use their normal area during the day if you aren’t in the room. We have tags for you to hang on the door to let us know when it is and isn’t okay to access the dog area.
There is absolutely no smoking or vaping allowed inside the house. You can smoke or vape outside, and vape inside the pool area, but there is no smoking inside the pool area either.
If you are a smoker, please let us know ahead of time so we can accommodate you with a receptacle for your ashes and cigarette butts. Please dispose of all ash and cigarette butts inside of the receptacle only.
Aside from the bottle waters and k-cups (for the Keurig) stocked in your room, Food & Beverages aren’t included in your stay;* please keep any food you bring with you in the dedicated fridge/freezer in your room, not the kitchen.
Dishes, pans, & utensils are available for use and located in the kitchen/dining; please clean any dishes used and any messes made during your food preparation. All meals must be consumed in the dining room & NOT in the bedroom to limit messes and stains. Please—no food trash in the guest area.
Unless we expressly offer you a drink, the alcohol/wine located in our bar & dining areas is off limits to guests.
*For an additional cost, we can provide meals—please contact us ahead of time to discuss costs and details. We can also stock your mini fridge or room with beverages, beer, alcohol, and mixers at an extra cost; the price sheet is located in your room (and below in the Fee Section), and you can ask us for these items upon check in or throughout your stay.
While you’ll have access to the guest area and all common areas, we ask that—unless expressly invited—you do not enter our office (room adjacent to the guest area) or the other wing of the house (where all the other bedrooms are located).
On that note, my husband and I are a polyamorous, open-ish couple that ONLY play together; we are not opposed to the idea of play with our guests (so long as there is consent from all parties), and we are generally flirtatious; with that said, we realize—just as with us—not everyone wants to have sexual advances made on them.
Because of the nature of our living arrangements during your stay—and to prevent any awkwardness or hurt feelings—we ask that you do not make any outright advances toward either of us or any other guests of our home. If you are interested in anything of a sexual nature with us, we ask that you first approach us ONLY through the Scruff App by sending a Woof or Message. We have a joint profile on there, and it will almost certainly be the closest nearby profile during your stay. That stated, if we do not reciprocate the advance, we ask that you respect our wishes to not engage in anything of a sexual nature with you that and want to keep our interactions as friends/business only.
1) As with most any other pool, ABSOLUTELY NO GLASS ALLOWED. We have plastic cups you can transfer any drink to before heading out to the pool.
2) Beverages and Food are not to be consumed while in the pool, only while enjoying the lanai area.
3) As stated above, ABSOLUTELY NO SMOKING in the pool area.
4) Please clean the pool area and remove any trash after EVERY use. Please place used/wet towels in the hamper located in the room; to ensure that you have fresh towels, please alert us if you are running low.
5) NO DIVING OR JUMPING. As you will see, the pool is small and—at its deepest—not even 5 feet deep.
6) When not at the pool, please ensure the back door deadbolt is kept locked; you do not need to lock the handle, just the deadbolt. Please keep the handle portion of the back door unlocked to prevent accidentally getting locked out.
Tampering with any of the following Ring Cameras will result in a cancellation of your reservation without refund:
1) Front Door
2) Carport
3) Back Gate
4) Pool
Given that this is an adult environment, all guests included in the reservation but be 18+ and provide a valid ID and sign a house rule and policy acknowledgement form at time of check in.
