Pride Vibes: Pulse

From birth to death, your pulse confirms that you’re alive; it is the sign of life, of vitality, and nothing imitates the rhythmic palpitations of our heart better than the cadence of a drumbeat, of music.

And what better way to celebrate life than with music, am I right?

Join The House of Fuego and Guy Scheiman as they start the Pride Vibes Weekend on Friday night with a kickoff sure to make your pulse flutter and your heart skip a beat!

You won’t want to miss the planned special performance featuring Guy Scheiman and Tony Moran’s recent collaboration with Suzanne Palmer, “Praise Up.”

Pride Vibes: Tampa Pride 2023

When we were first thinking about relocating to the Tampa Bay Area, one of the first weekend of events we attended in the community was Tampa Pride in March 2022, a few months before we finally made our definite move.

Having attended several Pride Festivities across the country—Atlanta, New York City, Chicago, Miami, and even Pensacola, to name a few—we realized how much potential for growth the Tampa Bay Area had to ramp up its Pride Celebration AND circuit scene all in one visit. We vowed then to help build up—while giving back to—the community once we finally moved here.

We’re very excited to announce our Tampa Pride Weekend 2023 line-up of events, which we’ve purposely dubbed Pride Vibes for the mere fact that the Vibe of the Tampa Bay community in general has been one that has been extremely welcoming and supportive of us as both individuals In the community as well as individuals trying to help its community flourish. Its laid-back nature and its insistence on kindness, compassion, and inclusion is exactly the VIBE we were searching for.

When we dubbed our weekend of Tampa Pride events “PRIDE VIBES,” we had exactly this inclusive and welcoming vibe that the gay community here has shown us in mind. From the overall name for the weekend, we thought a little deeper for the naming of our individual events within the weekend—originally, we were planning on six events, and automatically thought of the 6 colors of the modified 1979 Pride Flag by Gilbert Baker. GIlbert Baker chose the rainbow as a source of inspiration for the flag because he stated, “It’s a natural flag. It comes from the sky”.  And he attributed meaning to those colors….

  • Red – Life, Vitality, Invigoration, & Courage
  • Orange – Healing, Laughter, & Celebration
  • Yellow – Sunlight, Mental Focus, Passion, & Creativity
  • Green – Nature, Growth, Prosperity
  • Blue/Indigo – Serenity, Calmness, Dreams
  • Violet – Spirituality, Connection to a higher Power, Power, Regalness, Royalty

With that in mind, we named our events accordingly:

  • PULSE – like the heart is the source of life and vitality, the pulse of drums is the source of all music
  • VIBE – they say that laughter is the best medicine, and it definitely creates a perfect vibe for healing
  • BLAZE – those of us who are creative are usually driven by a passion that burns as bright as the sun
  • THRIVE – when we are allowed to grow and prosper, we thrive
  • DREAM – sweet dreams are made when we’re calm and serene and at harmony with the world around us
  • REIGN – while we are the rulers of our own destinies, our own power only increases with our spirituality and faith in a higher power — YASSS, Queen!

We decided that six events were too much for us, and we also found out that our friends at The Orange Party Foundation decided to do a Sunday Tea Dance for Tampa Pride Weekend. Even though it didn’t fall within the order we set, we decided to cut the “VIBE” event from our lineup because it correlated with the color Orange.

Full Mast: An Extended Gasparilla Saturday Event

For those who don’t know what Gasparilla is, it’s been a tradition in Tampa since 1904. For more than a century, the legendary pirate, José Gaspar, has invaded Tampa Bay every year, kicking off two treasure-filled months of parades, festivals, and other excitement. Starting with the nation’s third-largest parade and running through road races, to festivals featuring music, art, and film—the entire destination bursts with activities for everyone for eight weeks. This year, however, Gasparilla gains two TRUE circuit events, the first of which being Full Mast: A Gasparilla Saturday Extended Event, presented yours truly. Like the legendary buccaneer, José Gaspar, The House of Fuego invades Tampa Bay during Gasparilla Weekend. Join our mystical krewe as we raise our Jolly Rogers at FULL MAST and ignite the night to bring you an extended Saturday full of dancing, debauchery, and booty pilfering. Whether ye be a scallywag, seadog, or swashbuckler, all hands hoay for a night of great music. And worry not—though the night might be LIT, there will be plenty of playful dark places for you to heave ho or blow the man down. Gusttavo Farias will open and is sure to get your pirate booty shaking, while Alex Lo (Mexico) will be headlining the event.

Check recent set from Gusttavo & Alex below:

For the second TRUE circuit event during Gasparilla Weekend, join the boys of Orange Party for our Partner Event on Sunday with DJ Dan de Leon.

Batten down the hatches for the 29th of January. This is a celebration for not only the LGBTQ+ community of Tampa, but for everyone looking to dance in the daylight. On Gasparilla weekend, ship yourself to this Sunday Funday that’s a mix of the circuit party, dance festival, and waterside event of your dreams. The day after the beads is a bore, but here you’ll find all the booty on the dance floor.

Appetizers will be served and are included with your ticket purchase. Speedos are not included with admission, so make sure you sport poolside attire. Ensure your entry to join this krewe at the premiere of Tampa’s first Gasparilla Tea Dance Circuit Party. Citrusly, you don’t want to miss this.

Resurgence: A New Year’s White Masquerade

Resurgence: A New Year’s White Masquerade

Although we’ve had a few events in Tampa and Saint Petersburg in 2022, The House of Fuego undergoes a renaissance, kicking off the 2023 year with a weekend of events for New Year’s Weekend, with its first event appropriately named Resurgence, like a phoenix from the ashes.

Join us at a brand new location we’ve partnered with in Ybor City, name is still yet unknown as they are going through renovations, located just south of Southern Nights, as we kick off the New Year with a night of great music, live performances, and more. This is a white-themed masquerade, so come dressed in white, silver, or gold. Masquerade and white attire is optional, but highly-encouraged.

We’ll kick off the night with beats provided by Ember and Southern Nights Orlando resident DJ, Edil Hernandez, originally hailing from Puerto Rico. During the pandemic in 2020, Edil partnered with us, alongside DJ Nina Flowers, for our event Encanto, a livestream event paying homage to Puerto Rico, La Isla del Encanto.

There will be countdown, followed by a ball drop, champagne toast, and performance at midnight, after which Brazilian DJ, Binho Uckermann, will take over. Be prepared for hign-energy beats guaranteed to keep you dancing the night away.

At 3am, a surprise, international DJ will take the reins and lead us on a high-energy, tribal journey to close out the night. Details on the surprise DJ will be announced the day of the party to ticket holders only, so if you want to know, you’ve got to go. *wink*

Below, you’ll find a sample set from both Edil and Binho.

There will a clothescheck and Private Play areas for you to take advantage of — until 6am!

Relocation & Rebranding

blog

Relocation & Rebranding

The end of 2021 was extremely eye-opening and disheartening for us, to say the least. After several months of dealing with unnecessary and unwarranted drama—and feeling like we were constantly fighting the current determined to push us out of Atlanta—we decided that the idea of leaving the city (that had turned toxic for us and no longer felt like home) wasn’t as heartbreaking as the catalyst that sparked the unwelcome and dark feeling that now surrounded us.

We set our eyes on the beautiful Tampa Bay area (which not only includes Tampa, but other cities such as St. Petersburg, Gulfport, Clearwater, and Bradenton, to name a few) and spent from February until May going back and forth between Atlanta and Tampa/St. Petersburg getting to know the community and areas, making new friends, and discovering what would become our new home.

We were getting quite frustrated with the home search, however, continually coming up empty as the time for our relocation drew closer.

After about our 7th trip visiting the area and checking out the market, we finally got approved for a place (which wasn’t available until July 20th) and despite our lease in Atlanta ending almost a full month before the start of the lease in Tampa, we were ecstatic.

We signed that lease without hesitation, knowing we’d figure out what we’d do during the gap between residencies, packed up all of our belongings (that survived the great purge), and haven’t looked back.

NEW LOGO

It took a while to get settled — much longer than originally anticipated — but now that we are, The House of Fuego is celebrating our relocation by announcing a new logo (shown to the left), new icon, new branding, and newly-designed website.

NEW ICON

Although we still plan on using the burning heart symbol from our previous logo throughout our marketing, we simplified our new icon: two Fs, stylized like flames, inverted and mirrored.
